Resin table is a kind of product that shows individuality and decoration. It can be perfectly combined with various types of wood, including some discarded leftovers. After simple design and modeling, it can also get a dazzling effect.
The material cost of the resin table mainly comes from epoxy resin. Let me talk about the materials that are probably needed:
1. Main materials: epoxy resin; wood; oily color paste; surface coating polyester (varnish, polyurethane resin or varnish, etc.).
2. Accessories: tape; pvc board; gloves; masks, etc.
3. Equipment: polishing machine; cutting machine; electric drill, etc.
The method of making a resin table is as follows:
1. Wood treatment
The wood used for the river table must be dry. Excessive moisture will cause problems such as swelling and deformation of the wood. If necessary, dry it first. Sparse wood or open cracks can be filled with epoxy resin first to avoid the accumulation of tiny bubbles during large-area pouring.
2. Make pouring hoarding
According to the shape and size of the river table design, first make a simple frame enclosure. For better demoulding and smoothness, you can use a non-stick resin PVC board or paste ordinary transparent tape on the bottom. Pay attention to the sealing around the bottom, and make sure that the epoxy resin cannot be missed after pouring.
3. Blending of epoxy resin and color paste
Properly mix epoxy resin glue and curing agent, add oily/semi-permeable color paste (color essence) to color, pour it into the container and stir evenly with a wooden stick or agitator, stand still for 15 minutes to drain bubbles and prepare for pouring. If possible, vacuum can be used to drain bubbles, the effect will be better.
4. Resin casting
Slowly pour the formulated epoxy resin glue into the horizontally placed enclosure mold. The elongated and slow resin injection will reduce the bubbles. Then use a fire gun or heating air cylinder to preheat the surface of the epoxy resin glue to discharge bubbles. Wait for the resin glue to cure and keep the environment clean during the curing process. Generally, it takes 24 hours to cure at room temperature, and it takes about 3 hours to heat up to 60 degrees for the epoxy resin to fully cure.
After the epoxy resin is fully cured and reaches the processing hardness, it can be planed, sawed or machined.
The sandpaper is sanded from coarse to fine (sandpaper model 600-1200 mesh), and then hand thrown after machine sanding. For polishing, use fine sponge wheel or wool wheel with polishing wax for polishing. After polishing, resin coating or wood wax oil can be applied according to actual needs.
