The Abyss table, which is created in a way that mimics the depths of the oceans. This unique table uses multiple layers of stacked glass and wood, completing the table as a three-dimensional representation of a geological map. The images are only digital renderings but we can see that the real piece will be truly amazing.

Nietzsche said, when you gaze at the abyss, the abyss stares at you. The abyss table, like the ocean, is a dream without a bottom, which makes people want to gaze. By stacking layers of glass and wood, the zigzag shape of a blue sea area is reproduced, and the image of blue sea abyss is beautiful.

As like as two peas of glass were seen in the glass factory, I noticed a phenomenon that the color of the glass will be deeper as the number of glass layers increases, which is exactly the same as the changing principle of ocean color. Designer Christopher Duffy described it as "I want to use this effect to actually restore a piece of the surface of the earth's seabed. It's like the earth using its own mysterious power, arched a perfect rectangle from the earth's crust, pinning itself with a beautiful brooch.

The designer Christofer Duffy explains to Design Boom how he came up with the idea for his amazing design: “I was looking into sheets of thick glass at my glass manufacturer’s factory, and noticed how the material darkened as they added more layers – the same way the sea does as it deepen and  I wanted to use this effect to replicate a real piece of the earth’s sea bed. Like a mythical power had lifted a perfect rectangle straight from the earth’s crust to use as his personal ornament“.
